Terms of Use

These terms set the rules for using this website. By visiting any page, running a search, or reading content here, you agree to everything listed below. If you do not accept these conditions, leave the site and do not use it further.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, housing, or any other decision governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The material helps readers locate Schoharie County and New York criminal-record resources. This is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no connection to a government office. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve official files, perform official checks, or submit papers for a user.

Its function is to identify the Schoharie County sheriff, criminal courts, New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and New York State Sex Offender Registry routes, along with outside tools that may assist lawful research. New York Freedom of Information Law controls public-agency requests, while Executive Law section 837(8) limits DCJS dissemination to uses authorized by law.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on following these rules. A user must not:

  • Break any federal, state, or local law while using this site
  • Use information you find here to stalk, harass, or threaten anyone
  • Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on content from this site
  • Try to break into our systems or gain access you are not supposed to have
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against our pages
  • Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked tool may not be used to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate. Misuse may also violate criminal law. New York registry information receives special protection under Correction Law Article 6-C and other applicable law. It exists for public-safety awareness, not vigilantism or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produce no consumer report, credit report, or official background check. Our partners' tools are not offered here for an FCRA-regulated purpose. You agree not to use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

Any legally required screening must be obtained from an authorized official source or a provider that complies with the FCRA and the law governing that purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing here is legal advice. General information about Schoharie County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or New York record-sealing rule affects a specific case. Consult a licensed New York attorney.

6. No Warranties

Everything on this site is provided "as is." We do not guarantee that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Criminal records change as charges are filed, resolved, corrected, or sealed. Gaps and delays can occur. No site content is an official statement from a court, sheriff, DCJS, or other agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to government offices, court systems, legal resources, and outside search services. Those destinations are outside our control. Their content, availability, data handling, charges, and terms remain their responsibility.

8. Intellectual Property

Site text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Schoharie County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, redistribution, modification, or derivative use requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from site use, including reliance on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims or demands caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. A dispute tied to site use must be filed in a court with proper jurisdiction in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A posted revision becomes effective when it appears on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms stay effective. The affected language is adjusted only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
